There's no limit to how much money can be spent on speaker cables, interconnects or even power cords. But is it necessary, or even beneficial? The short answer? No. The long answer? No, no it isn't. 

With all our speakers and subwoofers, a regular, black power cord is included. Do you need to upgrade this to get the full potential of our speakers? No.

Do you need to purchase expensive RCA cables, XLR cables or digital cables? No. If you want to spend a little extra to get cables that looks good and are built well, go right ahead. But you don't need this from a sound quality perspective. 

And that about sums it up. This could have been a long article, but I'm afraid all the colorful explanations as to why you need fancy cables are simply made up by those selling cables. And you can't really argue meaningfully against creative marketing. Suffice to say that there is no scientifically backed evidence to support the idea of expensive cables.
